HIV Lecture

Parents of 9th and 11th graders, on April 27th Jay High School will be presenting a lecture on HIV/AIDS to our students.  The PowerPoint that will be presented is provided by the Oklahoma State Department of Health and is available for viewing here:

Due to larger gatherings restrictions, this year we did not host a parent discussion meeting. Instead I am asking if any parent would like to discuss the PowerPoint or any aspect of the Oklahoma State HIV education requirements, please call 918-253-4466 ext. 3270 or email me at  I will be happy to discuss the issues over the phone or meet in person.

Please note: This is not a Jay District required class.  Because we would like to conserve resources, we will NOT be sending home exclusion forms for high school students.  If you do not want your student to attend this class, you may request an opt-out form.  Please send the signed form.  You may also send a signed parent request to keep your student from attending the lecture.  The state requires a written request from a parent or guardian.  I will keep these requests and only those students will be kept out of the class.  All other students without a signed form/note from a parent will be attending the class.

I know aspects of this health topic may be sensitive to some parents.  But this is such an important health issue.  I hope you will give me the opportunity to pass on this education to as many students as possible.

Thank you,

Stephanie Catlett BS, RN
