I attended Jay public schools from Kindergarten through graduation. I graduated from Jay High School in 1987. Go dawgs! After high school, I moved to Idaho. I graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelors Degree, majoring in Spanish. I also received a Paralegal Certificate from BSU. After returning home from Idaho, I attended University of Oklahoma and earned my Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies in 2012.
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Boise State University
Paralegal Studies Certificate, Boise State University
Masters in Information and Library Studies, University of Oklahoma
I frequently attend professional development webinars to keep my education current in real time.
I started teaching in the 2009-2010 school year. I taught one year at Dove Science Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After that year, I took a break to complete my Masters degree. In the 2012-2013 school year I was the librarian at Kenwood Public School. Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, I spent two years as the librarian at Cherokee Elementary School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I feel so fortunate to be the librarian at Jay High School now and am looking forward to many great years at this school!
In 1987 I married my high school sweetheart, Bart Williams. You may remember him as the bass drummer in the Jay High School band from about 1980-1985. We have two children. Our son, Derek, was a 2007 Jay High School graduate. Our daughter is Shaina. We have four grandsons whom we absolutely adore and visit as much as we can. When we can’t see our grandsons, we dote on our dog- a dachshund named Ginger. We also have two cats who found their way to our house after being dumped on our road. My husband’s family still lives in Delaware County although my family has moved to other areas. My father was Superintendent at Jay for many years. My mother was a school librarian and worked at several schools including Kenwood, Moseley, and Spavinaw.
When I’m not working in the library, I enjoy spending time with family, researching my family history, reading, and taking long foraging walks in our woods. I love to travel. Bart has visited every state in the US. I still have about 12 or 13 states to go. The US is a beautiful country! We have also been to Mexico and Canada. One day I hope to travel to Europe.
